This morning I finished putting the borders on my king size quilt! Yea!!! I hope to get it basted this week and begin the quilting. It is 110" square, so it will take a while to quilt. This will be the test to see if I can quilt something this large on my sewing machine.
Please give me any ideas for a name for this quilt. I would appreciate it!
It is the window in our guest bedroom (actually, it's more like a sewing fabric and UFO overflow room) and you can see the alley below the window.
Kind of a good and bad post, but we will look on the bright side. Hope your Sunday is good and you can get some sewing accomplished!
Last summer we had our back gate window on our van shot out and the also left about 8 dents were they hit the gate. We also found out later they had put a hole in the top corner of the side of the bay window of our house. It was a BB gun because we found the BB. Hope nothing else happen to you.
ReplyDeleteOoohhh! That's scary! What's wrong is that we are living in a sick world! I'm glad there was no more damage and especially that no one was hurt!
ReplyDeleteYour quilt is gorgeous, and I'm sure by the time you get it quilted, you'll come up with a name. (I'll think about it too.) ---"Love"
What a beautiful quilt! It's going to be a heck of a quilt to tackle with the home machine! I'm sure you'll do it wonderfully!!
ReplyDeleteI'd like to think the broken window came from a rock. A bullet? How scary!
Your quilt is really beautiful Ruth, but I'm afraid I'm not good at names. I live on a small lake and I do have neighbors but there are also wooded areas scattered along the lake. We have one neighbor about a quarter mile down who apparently likes to target shoot. Sometimes we hear as many as 100 or more shots. It's legal in the county where we live but I worry about stray bullets. There are lots of families with children who boat and swim on that lake! blessings, marlene
ReplyDeleteEin wunderschöner Quillt.

Beautiful top--I try to tie names in with the occasion for which it is made, or the pattern name, recipient name, source of fabrics, etc., so without knowing any of that stuff I don't have any ideas, but I love the quilt. I really enjoy chain blocks as setting squares. They tie everything together nicely.
ReplyDeleteGlad there was not a more serious outcome to your vandalism, but such a thing can leave you with a feeling of vulnerability that is not pleasant.
Very scary, Ruth I would like to think it was a rock also! Thankful that you two are okay.
ReplyDeleteYour quilt is wonderful, you always do beautiful work.

The bullet quilt sprang to mind! but probably not appropriate. Its a great quilt, good luck for the quilting Im sure it will look beautiful. Gun ownership is not what I miss about moving back to England, used to make me so wary about who had one and why!!
ReplyDeleteLove, love the quilt. I need to make a new king size quilt. They are just so large to handle.
ReplyDeleteOh...your quilt is wonderful....creepy about the bullet hole.
ReplyDeletethat is so scarey having someone shoot at your window. Your quilt is stunning. Well done.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE naming quilts, but his one? I would call it Wonderful!!! No one else suggested anything yet. It is a sampler, isn't it? "Chocolate Sampler" or "Chocolate Samples" -- just came to me.
ReplyDeleteTerrible about the bullet - sick folks out there, especially doped up on whatever.
The quilt is beautiful, but I have no ideas for names. The bullet is scary. I hope it doesn't become a problem in your neighborhood!
ReplyDeleteMy word, that is a distressing event. Thank goodness no one was injured. It happens here all too frequently these days. Your quilt is stunning. Such lovely work. ann :-)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful quilt - I'm not good at naming things either. I've quilted queen size quilts on my sewing machine but not king size. Good luck.

Stunning quilt! So glad no one was in the room!

Yes that's scary. Hope you are willing and able to protect yourselves if this happens again.
ReplyDeleteYou might consider naming your quilt the "Brown Derby."
I also had someone shoot a hole in one of the windows in our lounge room, minutes before my daughter had been sitting in front of the window. The police were quite blase about it! They also said there was nothing they could do. Frightening!!!
ReplyDeleteThe quilt is awesome;) I quilted a king size one on my machine last year (two of them actually)...I would recommend low loft batting to start off with. And keep the quilting lines simple so you can fold the quilt up to make it fit. Just suggestions;)
ReplyDeleteHappy Quilting!!
beautiful top!
ReplyDeletesorry to hear about the window, scarey. I'm hoping it was kids with a bb-gun and nothing worse, but still, sorry to hear!
The quilt is just fantastic! I don't do well with naming quilts, but I bet you will come up with one.
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear about the window. That is scary. Hope it is an isolated incident.
Your quilt top is exquisite, and the fabric choices are just the kind I love best. I'm sorry about your window. That would be frightening!
ReplyDeleteHi Ruth! Your quilt top is beautiful! What a challenge to machine quilt one that big...yikes. Good luck and enjoy the quilting. A name...it might be called Trial by Error...lol. I would be scared to try one that big. That being said, I did sew one that was 250cm so it was so basic just squares, so I guess I have tried that. :-)
ReplyDeletePlease be careful about the gunshot. That is frightening. And I agree about what is wrong with people today. It is a problem here now with young boys breaking into homes and using force on people. It is all so sad.
