More Retreat Projects

I worked on the alternate setting blocks for my civil war quilt.  Below is going to be the center of the civil war quilt.  Here is the link to the blog post that shows the layout I will be using.  It is the third one down.

These are some more of the setting blocks.  I haven't put any more up on my design wall - it's not big enough.

I also spent some time working on 23 log cabin blocks.  Add that to the 93 that I already have.  I didn't get all the logs sewn on because I ran out of time.

In order to keep the "logs" organized, I marked a piece of paper with the various measurements needed and placed the little stack of "logs" on the paper.

Then when I was finished, I rolled whatever was left in the paper so I could keep everything together.  That seemed to work for me.
Have a great day!

  3. Your Civil War quilt will be gorgeous. I love the setting you are using. It does look complex, but when she breaks it down for you, it really isn't so bad.
Has the log cabin been a long term project? I did a few blocks in a class once and put all of the fabrics in a box with those blocks and haven't opened it since. I should do something about that!

  4. Your blocks are so pretty, your quilt will be wonderful when it is finished. Love the little log cabin blocks, that is a genius way of keeping track of all the spare "logs". I will have to remember that!

  7. That's called organization!

I am working with brown also, and recognized a few fabrics...I am making churn blocks and HSTs for a king size bed...

  10. While I like the first setting idea, that third one...wow! It's going to be stunning. And I like your idea for keeping your logs straight. My recent project with log cabins gave me trouble because though they were sorted into piles by size, I kept grabbing the wrong ones (and counting out how many I needed in an effort to keep it relatively scrappy instead of using the pile as I went). I'll have to remember that if I make another.

  12. I admired that Civil War quilt setting when I first saw it.

Also going to try your method with log cabin strips. I especially like the idea of rolling everything up and keeping it in place.
