FUN IN ARKANSAS

Today we spent the day taking care of Jonah and took him to a discovery museum for kids. He had lots of fun playing there this morning.
He enjoyed "playing" the piano. He is a little sweetheart, that's for sure!
On the way home, we stopped at a garage sale and I came upon some gorgeous crocheted doilies that the relatives didn't want! They look brand new and are in perfect condition. The workmanship is excellent. I felt very lucky today!!

Monday we will really go camping!

  1. I will admit, I have no appriciation for doilies...I like them from a distance but not for my home. It might be because I live in such a small apartment and have small children/hands that get into EVERYTHING!!

My mom has a table cloth that was crocheted by her grandfather that I know is very special to her. She only put it on the dinner table for Easter, Christmas, and Good Company...and had a plastic liner she put down over it on the end where my brother and I sat (and sometimes Dad was sent to the plastic side!)

  3. Oh, Jonah is just so cute. It looks like he was really having fun.
Those crocheted doilys really were a great find. My Grandma used to make the most beautiful ones. I have done some as well, but I can't really crochet anymore because it hurts my neck like crazy.
    Enjoy camping!

  9. Your grandson is adorable, I love the red hair! Glad you are having such a good time with him. The doilies are a great find. My mom still crochets doilies and pot holders. These are all beautiful. I have never given it a try, I don't know if I would have the patience. My great grandma, grandma and mom have always had doilies. I have a few my mom made for me and some I found on Ebay. Enjoy your real camping and let us know how your trip goes.

  10. Looks like you had a great time out!! He's so cute! I agree with Lisa that I don't decorate with doilies, but appreciate the craftsmanship. I have a big bag full of them my grandmother made. No clue what I'll do with them, but still admire them. Enjoy your treasures!! :) Christine

  11. Lovely find! I appreciate handmade crocheted items, too, and I have a large stash. My aim is to incorporate them into a quilt. Is that what you are planning? Do you have any ideas? Does anybody have any ideas?

  14. A very nice collection of doillies. People never cease to amaze me when they do not appreciate the craftmanship that goes into making these. I can hardly resist them when I see them in shops. I know the lady that made them would be pleased to know that someone got them that truly appreciated their beauty.

That is a cute lil guy you have there - he could be an adverstisement poster for the museum!
