I decided to enter these 2 quilts in the Oregon State Fair. I figured - why not? When I went to the fair last week, of course I wanted to see if they won anything. I was surprised to see that I got a blue first place ribbon for both quilts! Flags of the Revolution was in the "machine appliqué" category and Dear Jane was in the "mixed techniques" category.
Below are the quilts that were awarded Best of the Show. They are well deserving of that award. I just wish they would have hung them so that we could have seen the whole quilts.
Yesterday I had cataract surgery on my left eye (the right eye was done a month ago). Everything went very well.

Congratulations!!!! I knew your work was that amazing, but it's nice to have a ribbon to show off for it! The other quilts are all beautiful, too. And our country fair struggles with good displays of quilts, too - to the point my guild friends hesitates to enter anything!
ReplyDeleteCongrats. Both of your quilts are so beautiful. Hugs
ReplyDeleteI'm telling you; anywhere you enter that Dear Jane quilt, it will win! Your other one is very nice too. I enjoyed seeing the other quilts in the show too. The quilting on Best of Show is awesome. Glad your eye surgery went well. My eye is much improved. I see the doctor tomorrow again. --"Love"
ReplyDeleteWonderful! Congratulations! Your quilts are beautiful. Well deserving! Thanks for sharing your win!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your two ribbons! Those are beautiful quilts well deserving of blue ribbons. Hard to imagine they would hang the 'best of show' quilts in such fashion. Have to wonder about the thought process that went into that decision. Good to hear your cataract surgery went well, tomorrow I'll find out if mine are yet far enough along that the insurance will cover the surgery. Sure hope so, can't see much these days!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your awards - very deserved.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations Ruth. Well deserved ribbons. Keep entering as it stretches your capabilities. I have a collection of them. I haven't entered any is a few years. Hugs.
ReplyDeleteDouble congratulations, Ruth!! Awesome! Dear Jane deserves nothing but a blue ribbon. Thanks for sharing all the other jewels you spotted at the fair. The quilting on the white and blue quilt is just fabulous! Happy to hear the surgery went well and wish you speedy recovery. ;^)
ReplyDeleteThe ribbons are well deserved! Congratulations, Ruth!
ReplyDeleteYou would think they would find a way to display the top winners more fully. At our state fair they are hung from up high and you can see the whole quilt, but not up close. :)
Glad to hear the cataract surgery went well. I know the eye drop routine is annoying, but the results are worth it. I haven't had it, but I took my Dad through both of his surgeries and he was very pleased with the outcome.
Wow! Good for you! Love your quilts, I have the Jan Patek done but need to quilt it, I even have it marked with the large fans too. Your Dear Jan is a real treasure...hand quilted? Happy Sewing and continued success on your lovely work!
ReplyDeletehow wonderful! congratulations on well deserved blue ribbons.
