STILL KEEPING BUSY!

I guess I'm lucky to be a quilter, because the time is flying by!  I'm not bored, I'm definitely keeping busy and while I would like to be able to go out more (let's say to the LQS or something), I'm doing OK.

I finished the top of this mini, Honeycomb, by Kim Diehl.  As I told you in a recent post, I won the pattern from Janet.  This is one of those things helping me to keep busy!  It is very much outside my regular style of quilts, but it was interesting to do.  The hardest part was digging through my fabrics for all the different pieces.  Then I followed Kim Diehl's method of machine quilting with clear thread.  I wanted to do the borders with a similar chartreuse fabric, which I didn't have.  So I went online to look for some and I found the exact same fabric that Kim used for the borders, although I'm not sure it is the same color.  I used something different for the inner skinny border and corners.

Sunday didn't lift my spirits at all because of having church on line, which is very weird.  Plus not being able to have DS & DGS over for dinner.  After DH & I ate, I texted DS to see if we could do FaceTime at least.  He responded:  we're on our way!  So we decided we would just sit on the patio and visit, which we did.  They brought me some tulips from their garden and DGS painted some egg shells for me for easter.

That made the day much better!

We finished another puzzle called "Opera Cats."

I also got this Jo Morton design almost finished - "Nine Patch Chain.  I need to put a border on it but haven't decided exactly what I will do for that.

I hope you are all doing well and that we will be able to be released from custody soon!  Ha Ha!

  2. So glad you got to visit with you family a bit. I had a quiet day home alone, but enjoyed watching several Easter services on TV as well as my own church's service online. I too missed getting together with family and friends, but it didn't bother me as much as all of you who go where you want, when you want, except for these recent days. I really like your R/W/B little quilt, as I'm sure you would know. The other one is nice too. Have fun. Maybe tomorrow I will drag something out to work on; I'm thinking about it. ---"Love"

  3. Released from custody! I love that! I've been keeping busy, too, though some days more than others. I'll be glad when the worrying part of life goes back to normal. In the meantime, I try to focus on what I can do, and like you, quilting is definitely on that list! (Baking, too, now that I have a source of eggs if the grocery store doesn't have them!) Both quilts are sweet and I love the chartreuse. Very unexpected, but fun and funky! Easter seemed a little off here, too. We ate a pot roast instead of ham (I'm not a big fan and may have not realized how close Easter was when getting groceries...), and it was just the hubby and myself, but we know there will be other holidays and I would rather keep our parents safe. Here's to hoping those will be sooner rather than later!

  6. Such a happy post! We are watching a different online church as ours isn't good as far as sound, etc. (Love our pastor though) My son and gf came over and had brunch with us and he helped me put Easter service on the TV. I LOVE your 9 patch quilt and the one from Janet's pattern. Much love

  7. Puzzles and quilts help pass the time and they are fun! Glad you got to see your family, even spaced a bit apart. I miss seeing family and friends but there is always email and phone calls.
