Woo Hoo!  I finished all the little applique baskets!  Here are 6 of the last batch - there are 2 of each of these.  I am soooooooo glad to be finished with the baskets.  Next comes the medallion center which consists of a bouquet of flowers - but they aren't too intricate, luckily.

I had to take about a 2 1/2 day break from quilting to make a halloween costume for Jonah.  In his kindergarten class they are singing the song, "The one horned, one eyed, flying purple people eater" and he decided that's what he wanted to be for Halloween.  Grandma to the rescue (am I a sucker, or what?).  The costume is in the mail and my DIL is going to add some fur patches to it.  Below are the feet complete with claws.  The hands also have claws.  Jonah wants to be scary.  I'm sure we'll get a picture of him in the costume - I hope it fits - and I will post it when we get it.

I'm going to a quilt show today - hopefully I'll get pictures for you.

  1. Look what you've done! He is going to LOVE his costume!!

The baskets are lovely- I can't wait to see the center.

  2. How many of those teeny baskets did you make? I can't recall, but I know it was some number of monstrous proportions!
And speaking of monsters! Those feet are way too cool! I can't even imagine how that little guy is going to look. What a good grandma! Can't wait to see the whole costume. : )

  3. I really love all of those little baskets and I am anxious to see how the quilt turns out. I know it is going to be beautiful. You did a great job on the Purple People Eater feet, so cute. Jonah will be thrilled!

  4. Ruth, is there anything you can't create out of fabric? Jonah is a very lucky boy! Good job finishing the baskets. I am looking forward to see how they will be set.

  5. The baskets are so cute!! Glad you've got a "finish"!!!

    You're not a sucker - just a wonderful grandma!!

  6. Jonah is lucky to have such a loving grandmother. He will no doubt be the best costumed purple people eater around! I'm sure you are glad to get those little baskets finished! I could not have stayed with them like you did. ---"Love"

  7. The costume is so cute. I used to love that song and sang i8t to my kids.

  8. Yay for you to finish all those baskets. The costume looks cute.
