FROM MINNESOTA, ILLINOIS AND IDAHO

I'm posting from DH's laptop and am having a hard time getting it to cooperate. Above are 3 generations of our family, our oldest son, DH and our grandson.  We went to Minnesota for our grandson's senior organ recital at St. Olaf College.  There was a white out blizzard that weekend.  Fortunately, we didn't end up in a ditch like so many other cars!  I had to laugh when I saw the Little Chicago sign.  There were about 8 houses in that town.

Here is our grandson during his recital.  He had 2 page turners/helpers.  Besides turning pages, they helped by sliding various "stops" on the organ.  We wouldn't have missed the recital and are glad that even though it was postponed one day and we had to improvise at the last minute to find a place for the refreshments, it all turned out perfectly.  He is so talented - we're very proud of him.

From Minnesota, we went to Illinois and stopped in Galena, the home of President Ulysses S. Grant.  The town is so interesting, but I haven't been able to load all the photos onto this computer.  Some of them migrate to it automatically, but not all.  Very strange.

I found this quilt shop there and it was small but very good.

Cute name, huh?
I bought a couple patterns and some fabric.  This will be for a table runner.

This will be for an apron.

We are almost home (will arrive there today), but on the way, we stopped in Twin Falls, Idaho and went to see this amazing water fall, Shoshone Falls.  I never knew about this or about the canyon that the Snake River runs through.

Can't wait to get home!

  1. What a beautiful organ! I remember when the church I grew up in added on a whole new worship space, complete with a pipe organ. I was involved with the music ministry and the director took me up into the pipes! I so love the wonderful sounds the pipes can produce and it's amazing to listen to someone who can really play - which I'd guess your grandson must be that good if he needs two helpers! I don't think I could do that with app the keyboards and foot pedals and everything - I'll stick to my flute! The fabrics are great and what a cute store name. And the falls are beautiful - I think I need to drag the hubby out on a short weekend in nature soon!

  2. How wonderful that you made it safely to your grandson's recital, and were able to enjoy that event. Sounds like it was well worth it.
What a clever quilt shop name. :)
It is a beautiful falls, isn't it?
Did you drive past Rupert on your way to Twin Falls? They have an incredible quilt shop there in that little town, not much bigger than Little Chicago!

So glad you were able to make it there for that special recital! Nice fabric choices from that cute shop. I didn't know about those falls in Idaho either; absolutely beautiful! 5. Congrats to your grandson on his organ recital. That is some organ. Glad you got there safely. I've been to that quilt shop in Galena. It's cute and the people were nice, too. I think we stayed at the hotel across the street. Anyway, glad you are enjoying your trip.
