QUILT SHOPS AND PROJECTS

Here are a couple projects that I worked on during our trip. This table runner is made from a charm pack and pattern (Scrappy Do) that I won in a giveaway that Lisa had on her blog. I sewed this up on our trip home while we were at RV parks.

These basket blocks are for my Mansfield Park (by Timeless Treasures) quilt that I'm making for my guest room. I hand appliqued the handles and then sewed the basket on. I showed my 2 practice blocks in an earlier post on March 22, 2010. I'm hoping to get this top put together before we leave again. Besides these two projects, I also worked on a couple stitcheries while we were gone. Here are my purchases from some of the quilt shops that I visited. First, from The Quilt Shack in Prineville, OR.
I bought these solids from Rosemary's Stash in Rexburg, ID. They were on sale and I will be using them for stitcheries and making dolls.
This store, Boersma's, is in McMinnville, OR (near DS's home) and I always visit it when I'm near it. It is a wonderful shop.
I found these fabric pieces for the I Spy baby quilts that I'm making from Boersma's scrap bin. I was able to cut a bunch of 6" squares and with what was left over I cut some 2 1/2" squares that I can use for either doll quilts or donation quilts.
The following items were purchased from The Quilted Hill, in Yamhill, OR - I posted about this shop a couple weeks ago. I am always looking for black on black and a lot of shops don't have any that I like, or they have black and white fabrics. And, of course, I can always use light contrast fabric as well.
Fabrics at quilt shops are more expensive out west - $10-$11 per yard. The only ones I bought were on sale - I sure didn't pay $10/yd!

Well, I better get busy. Amazingly, last night I started cleaning out my fabric closet - I don't know what got into me!

    The table runner is pretty;)
Shop hopping across country on road trips is always an adventure. You always find things that aren't in your area, and you just have to take them home;)
    Happy Quilting!!

  4. Looks like you showed a good amount of restraint in your purchases. I always have a hard time with quilt shopping when travelling - I want to take it all home! (I can't just go back next week, right?) The table runner is fantastic and those baskets are great, too. I bet they'll look even better in the finished quilt!

  5. The table runner looks fantastic! American Primer was a great fabric range. I just adore your basket blocks and this will be a wonderful quilt. Fab buys Ruth. Fabric here retails from about $22 - $30 a metre. Ouch! Ann :-)

  10. Love both projects and your "finds" at quilt shops look wonderful.

I switched from applique the other night & went back to my cross stitch for the evening. The needle felt huge in my hand after the size 10!

Hope you found some good shops to visit in the magazines! Mary

Cleaning the closet, huh? I did mine this spring and guess what it is messy again ---oh well it made me happy for a little bit. When I am looking for a special fabric is where I get in trouble!!
