LEAVES ARE CHANGING

As you can see, the leaves are starting to change.  We will  miss the most colorful part of the season as we will be leaving for home at the end of this week.

Some colorful leaves in the campground we were staying at.

More leaves and rocks around the pond.

Do you want to catch a frog?

There are nets available to catch frogs with - they must be released after catching.
In my September 22 post, I neglected to tell you something about Louisa May Alcott's home.  Inside the house there were 3 quilts made by her mother!  They had to be at least 150 years old and were in very good condition!  One was pink and brown squares with lighter solid panels separating panels of squares.  One was a flying geese quilt and the third one was white with large blue triangles.  I wish I could have gotten pictures of them.  But I just found pictures of the inside of their home here!  I didn't see the quilts in any of these pictures, however.  Click on Panoramas for a much better look.

A RAINY DAY IN THE CAMPER

It was a rainy day yesterday and we decided not to travel, so I got my sewing "room" set up.  Just like your sewing room, I have various "stations" for different activities.

Ironing station on kitchen counter.

Cutting station on pull-up shelf by sink.

Sewing station on my side of the table - DH is using the computer on his side.

Design "chair"

You can "make do" when you have to!  I pulled out my 1 1/2" strips and some other scraps to put together another doll quilt.  I didn't have enough pink for the alternating blocks, but I got most of it put together.  I will be concentrating more on hand work until we get home because I guess I didn't bring enough projects on this trip.

Today we head south to Massachusetts!

CAMPING IN MAINE

We arrived in Maine a few days ago and we're camping near Phippsburg where the weather has been gorgeous all week

View of campground from our camper

We haven't seen a moose yet, but we've seen chipmunks!  They play on the stone wall next to our camper.

Stone walls abound in New England

Pond in the campground that I enjoy walking to.

Working on hand piecing outside the camper.

The Atlantic Coastline on Bailey Island.

Fishing village on Bailey Island.

Another view of the bay on Bailey Island.
I have also been working on some projects inside the camper using my sewing machine - nothing to show yet.  We have been away from home a month now and will probably head home in a couple weeks.  Our last week will be spent in Massachusetts.

OUR FIRST TRIP IN NEW CAMPER

This was the first trip with our "new" camper, so I have to share some pictures. This first one is at Warfield Point Park along the Mississippi River in Mississippi. You can see the river behind the camper.
This was a beautiful sunset our first night there.
We just relaxed the next day and I got some quilting done my my cheddar cheese & crackers doll quilt.
This is a duck that lived near DS#2's apartment in Florida. I hate to say it, but it is rather ugly.
We camped one night at Lake Perry, Mississippi on our way to Florida.
However, we didn't see any alligators!
On our way back for our second weekend with Jonah, we stayed 3 nights at Hot Springs National Park. This is the stream we camped near (about 50 feet). It was just gorgeous!
We did some hiking on the trails around our camp site and took pictures to prove it!
See my hiking boots? They are great! (The first pair I ever owned).
I went to one of the bath houses in Hot Springs and had a 20 minute soak in the hot springs water. It was a huge jacuzzi tub with jets - heavenly!

No tent camping for us! We enjoyed all the features in our camper, including A/C, heater, microwave, refrigerator, stove with oven, hot water heater and tiny bathroom with shower! It also has a TV which is not hooked up yet, but we watched some DVDs before bed.

We really enjoyed camping this way and tomorrow will be heading for home.
