I'm a Delinquent!

I have been really bad lately - when it comes to blogging, that is!  I haven't even been looking at blogs very much.  It seems like I just don't have time!  Is it my imagination, or am I going nuts?  I am doing a lot of sewing, so that part is good.  I don't have much to show you though.  I will get to that down a ways.

Spring is coming and I have some mini daffodils along with the grape hyacinths!  They are so cute!!

My LQS always has quilts in the window and I love these two.  One looks real easy and might be one to keep in mind.  The green one looks a lot harder.

I had this quilt marked in the Quilt Sampler magazine from fall/winter of 2019.  I finally got around to making it.  I think I'll stop at this border - there is supposed to be one more.  It measures about 40" square right now and I plan to bind it with the same brown that that I used in the medallion.

I love making 4 1/2" saw tooth stars for small items.  I finished some pink ones to use as coasters that I included in birthday cards to some friends.

Sawtooth Coasters

Then I decided to make some mini quilts and have gotten this far.  Well, a little farther since they are now basted and ready to quilt.  At first I sewed them together without a sashing and then I took them apart to put sashing in - I like that better.

These can be used on a small table or as a toilet tank topper.  I like to have something on top of the tank and have had the same ones for years now.

I have 2 quilts ready to baste and had planned to get it done, but I had measured wrong and will need to figure it out again.  What a pain!  One is the "cat" quilt that was on my design wall a while back and the other one is a strip quilt that I really like.  I had some backing set aside and now can't find it.  I think I'm either very disorganized or I'm loosing my mind.

I will try to get better about posting and reading posts.

  1. Very interesting quilts in the window. Love, love the first one. It looks intricate but I bet the pattern is easier than it first appear to be. Lots of blue and brown with just enough pink for a nice touch. I love to sew mini blocks too. They are so addictive. Enjoy! ;^)

  2. Your flowers are beautiful! Mine, whatever was coming up, were ruined by our bad freeze! I like your quilt, and the other projects. At least you are accomplishing a few things. I've been bad too; I read blogs but rarely comment lately. I think I'm losing it too! I have finally started putting all those Civil War blocks together, made in 2011! I'm using a picture of yours from your blog March 2014. Mine will never have a ribbon it like yours did at Dallas! My colors and arrangement will be different, but at least yours has been a great guide for me, and for that, I say thanks! I just can't seem to get in the mood to accomplish anything, and I'm really a cripple now, which aggravates me terribly! Keep on posting about your projects; maybe I'll catch your "busy bug"! ---"Love"

  3. You're so lucky to have green things blooming! We're still working on melting mountains of snow, but have 60 in the forecast for tomorrow, so that should help! Of course, that means MUD everywhere, but I'm ready to have windows open, even if it means a bit more cleaning for a while. (Freddie is also ready and begs at the window every sunny day, not understanding 10 below wind chills in January!) The little blocks are cute and wonderful ideas for coasters. The two quilts in the window definitely contrast in difficulty, but I'm the dork who would start the harder one and THEN see how hard it was... Good luck finding the missing fabric. It's probably somewhere super obvious. And I have to laugh about the toilet tank toppers. Apparently my mom had never heard of such a thing until maybe a year ago. We were visiting (pre-pandemic) and she showed me this little quilt, perfectly sized for a toilet tank and I said as much. She looked at me funny and I assured her it was a thing. My dad, of course, was trying to keep me quiet, but my mom ran off with the little quilt and installed it in the bathroom. My poor dad...the one last surface she hadn't tried to cover, I had now taken from him!
