Some close up pictures of basting my string quilt. Notice the cat eyes in the first pictures. I love that fabric - I bought it in Iowa a couple years ago and I think it's all gone now.
I have been busy working in the yard and have gotten a lot done with help from a yard worker. Our front yard will look a lot better once I get things planted. Other improvements were made on our small patio and mulch will be put down soon. I wanted to get it done early. It rained a lot yesterday so it's too muddy to work in today.
I'm trying to use up fabric and sewed a bunch of 4-patches together. The 2 1/2" squares have been cut for quite some time and were left over from a quilt I made for DS#2/DIL and they got married in 2003. It wasn't a wedding gift, but I think I made it a couple years later. So it's about time I did something with the scraps from it. A simple 4-patch will make a nice lap quilt!
Happy Spring!
Beautiful quilts. Pretty yard. Wild wind.
ReplyDeleteI too really like the fabrics in your string quilt. You made a really nice finish on it! Looks like your cats are fairly satisfied, with no cat fights in the making. It really is cute! Your yard looks better than mine down here in Texas. My son mulched with his big mower all the dead leaves left from the horrible freeze, and it is looking a bit better. I also see a few weeds are beginning to shoot up their heads. Will be time to mow again soon. Wish I could go out and work in the rose garden, but I'm not allowed outside by myself! Grrrrr----! ---"Love"
ReplyDeleteDouble Congratulations on getting two quilts finished. They are both beautiful. We had a little bit of snow this morning. I hope it was a farewell kind of snowfall. ;^)
ReplyDeleteHooray for some finishes! I longarmed another top today, so I'm feeling good, too. I wish it was warm enough here to get serious about yard work, but not yet. A few more weeks maybe? We have days where it is 70 and then it snows the next, but that is spring where I live. In the meantime, I'll enjoy your photos with so much green!
ReplyDeleteTwo great finishes--and I love photos of quilts in the wind. :)
ReplyDeleteI made a very similar cat quilt years ago. It is a great pattern.
ReplyDeleteI really like the string quilt. That grey as a great setting fabric.
Both lovely quilts. Spring must be on its way for you. Our garden has been some attention but we are bedding it down for winter. Making plans for a refresh come spring in our part of the world.
ReplyDeleteBoth quilts are beautiful finishes. The cat one is delightful. I'm so glad it isn't a UFO anymore!
