WEEKEND AT THE RAINY COAST

This past weekend I went to the coast for a women's retreat from my church.  While we had been having sunny weather for at least a week, it rained the whole weekend!  But I am still amazed when I see the ocean!  We were at Lincoln City, Oregon and the Pacific Ocean was just across the street from where we stayed in this house.  My room was on the second floor and I had access to the porch on the corner from the room!

This is the picture I took from the room when we arrived.  On Saturday, it was even foggier and the rain didn't let up at all.  Nevertheless, we had a wonderful time.  It's good to get away for a couple days to relax, enjoy God's creation and relax with other women of like mind.

Saturday afternoon we had some free time, so I decided to go for a walk.  The rain was coming down, but not really hard, so I put on a rain hat and walked out towards the beach.  When I found the path to the beach, I slipped in some mud and fell partially down.  Here's a picture of my pants.

The ground was soft, so no injury happened.  I walked around more carefully and didn't spend too much time outside, but it did feel good to get outside.

Last week I started quilting on "Faithful" and am finally just about to finish it!

Uh Oh!  When I turned it over, look what I had quilted onto the back!  Too much stuff on my sewing table.  It's off now and yesterday I finished quilting "Faithful!"  Yea!  I'll sew on the binding today.

  2. Looks like a beautiful place for your retreat--rain and all. Glad you weren't injured in your slip.
I felt like laughing and crying when I saw what happened with your quilting. Maddening when that happens!

  3. Glad you had a nice getaway, and that you didn't get hurt when you fell! I'm sorry...but I'm laughing at the zipper on the back of your quilt! I have stitched things to my pants before - always frustrating, but comical!

  4. I got a good chuckle when I saw the zipper sewn to the back of your quilt - maybe you should just leave it and incorporate it into a label or something? Funny.

  5. Looks like a beautiful place even with fog and rain.
glad the slip was not worse.
I can relate to the zipper quilted to your quilt. Last week I was quilting a pillow top for my DD and I was so happy that my stitch in the ditch was pretty straight. I flipped it over and I quilted a press cloth to the back of it, all crooked and everything. I picked it out and redid the whole thing.

  6. Lincoln City is always a spot we visit when we go to Oregon. We like to eat at Mo's and play on the beach with the grandkids. It rains often when we are there but it is beautiful all along the coast. Your little Faithful quilt is so pretty. The zipper that decided it wanted to be stitched to the back made me laugh. Funny things happen. I really like the fabric on the back of the little quilt. I'm glad it was easy to fix.

  7. Darn it! I hate when that happens! LOL

Sometimes a rainy trip to the coast is fun. Falling didn't look fun, but I'm glad you had a nice time.

  8. Wish I could visit there! Thanks for sharing again. I once quilted a portion of backing that got folded under; what a mess! Glad you got the zipper off and the quilting fixed on that beautiful backing! ---"Love"
