Churn Dash Exchange Blocks

A couple (or a few) years ago I participated in a block exchange of Churn Dash blocks that was organized by Barb.  I had sewn sashing to 2 sides of all the blocks and finally decided to sew them together.

Here's a picture of them on my design wall before getting them all sewn together.

It didn't take very long to get them all sewn together and I love the way it looks!  Now, I need to figure out what to do for the border.  I might have found it, but didn't take a picture of it yet.

I might add a  border and then use some of my many random HSTs to make another border.  I think I'll sleep on it.

  1. Oh, I love this scrappy churn dash. The randomness of the colors in blocks and sashing gives it the perfect vintage feel!

  2. I really like this! It kinda twinkles with a few lighter blocks and sashing fading out and the darker ones shining a bit as my eye moves across the quilt. I've been seeing a lot of churn dash quilts in my pinterest feed lately, so I might be close on your heels with my next project!

  3. Great setting! Another border would be fun too. I have to get mine out and see how they are doing.

  5. Great use of your exchange blocks. Your sashing makes the quilt. Hugs

  6. Great job on the swap blocks. It reminds me that I haven't done anything with my blocks. Love the sashing. It is really scrappy now. Good luck with the borders. ;^)

  8. Those blocks have been turned into a very pretty quilt. I love churn dash quilts, and have some that my aunt made years ago --- like in the 1930's. Good grief! When I typed 1930's, I realized those quilts are almost 100 years old, and most still in really good condition. ---"Love"

  9. Oh my these blocks you have made these blocks into a stunning quilt. Churn Dash is on the list but I really don't want to play with HSTs for a while but seeing how well these have turned out, I think I might have to renege on that plan.
