LOG CABIN TOP FINISHED

This morning I finished piecing my log cabin quilt top!  The inspiration for this quilt was my visit to a quilt shop Barrington, IL with Beth.  Here's my post about that visit.  Scroll down about half way to see the quilt in their shop.  I'm not sure exactly when I started it, but it may have been later in that year - 2011.  I worked on these blocks a lot while we traveled with our 5th wheel.

Here it is kind of spread out on our patio table & chairs.

It measures about 85" x 95".

I will get some batting and hope to get it basted soon along with another queen size quilt to I can get busy quilting both of them.  I'm starting to see some progress with my UFOs!!!

Happy quilting!

  1. Ruth, this is absolutely gorgeous! I love the scrappy log cabins. I would have a tough time not making my dark logs matchy-matchy, but the sprinkling of blues and greens among the rest makes your quilt come alive. I love it!

Congrats on the finish. Are you machine or hand quilting?

  4. What a beautiful layout for your log cabin! I love it! Makes me want to make one, but when? Maybe it won't take you as long to quilt it as it did to get it all together. Don't fret about the time; it is well worth the wait! ---"Love"

  5. Absolutely gorgeous quilt top Ruth! Have you decided how you'll quilt it yet? (I can already "see" it hand quilted with an overall Baptist Fan) :-)

  8. Very, very beautiful!! I've got one ALMOST there (started several years ago then got frustrated with it) that hopefully I'll get done one of these days. That one would be my 2nd if it's ever finished!
