WHAT HAVE I BEEN UP TO?

Sunday a friend at church gave out some poenies during our Sunday School class.  Look how they opened up!

A few years ago when we were in New Hampshire I purchased a charm pack of 8" pieces of fabric.  I decided to use those along with other fabrics to make a table cloth for our patio table.  I used 36 different 8" pieces of fabric, mostly in blues and browns, but I decided to throw in a few "western" pieces.

Also this piece with the Texas flag on it.  :-)  I thought it was an appropriate remembrance for 30 years lived in that state.  I quilted each square differently.  I don't think the quilting shows up very well, so I'll take a better picture of it on the table for my next post.

We are painting our fence.  The left side is how it looks now.  The right side is before painting.

Another view.  Not too much fun.  We have a long fence, but little by little it will get done.

Happy Mother's Day!

  1. I love what a coat of paint can do for an item! Looks great. Just like a quilt, you will finish eventually.

  2. Wow--gorgeous peonies!!
A fun idea for your patio table. That is a lot of extra effort to quilt each square differently. Kudos to you. I probably would have slapped on the easiest all-over design I could find. : )
Not only a long fence, but a long fence with lots of detail. Where is Huck Finn when you need him? : )

  3. That's a terrific way to use such fabrics. The peonies are so beautiful! It always seems takes ages to paint fences but it will look so much better when it's all done.

  4. Peonies are one of my favorites - we just bought a plant today to add to our meager perennial garden. Those two are gorgeous. As is your background quilt! Happy Mothers Day to you!

  5. The fabrics in the table cloth are wonderful, really pretty! The fence painting job looks like a lot of work, but so worth it in the end. Have a wonderful weekend!

  6. Those flowers are beautiful, I have a peony rose, when I bought it the man said it will not flower for 3 years, I've had it for 2 years now so maybe this will be the year i get my first bloom. Your fence looks great painted, it will look lovely when you are finished.

  7. Love the peonies! I get to look at my neighbor's this time of year; they are really pretty. I also love the fabrics in your little quilt, especially the Texas flags; haven't seen that one before. If you were here, you wouldn't have to paint that fence this week; it will be raining every day through next Sunday! Again! We had the same thing everyday last week too! *frown* ---"Love"
