SewCalGal hosts the FMQ (free motion quilting) each month of the year and I decided to get the August quilting finished early. The tutorial was done by Wendy Sheppard, who is an outstanding quilter and designer. She has had her designs published in lots of quilting magazines. The design she taught is called "Jester's Hat." I should have practiced more before taking a picture of it, but this will have to do for this month. I will definitely try to utilize this in a quilt - after I have perfected it!
Another small project is this table runner made out of civil war reproduction fabrics.
I have been keeping busy, but nothing else that I can share for now. Hope you are keeping cool. It's been over 100 for at least a week here,
The quilting is very nice and it is cool to learn another all over pattern.
ReplyDeleteI adore the strippy quilt!!
That Jester's Hat design looked difficult to me, and you would know I haven't tried it! Your little CW quilt is cute and a good use of those left-overs! ---"Love"
ReplyDeleteLook at you go! Done already! They look good overall and that's the effect you're going for, right? So you're doing great. I like the little quilt and it's variety of color.
ReplyDeleteIlove the Jester's Hat pattern - wish I could do it. FMQ is just not for me.

I am impressed with how early you jumped on the FMQ Challenge for this month. You can bet I won't be getting there for 2 or 3 more weeks. : )
ReplyDeleteThat table runner looks great. I want to do something else with my CW scraps, but need to finish up some other things first. : )
Your quilting looks lovely! I found this one harder than I thought it would be. Good for you getting it done early.
ReplyDeleteGreat job on the Jester's Hat quilting design! I'm a little nervous to try this one...I'll practice on paper while I watch the olympics!
ReplyDeleteWhatever that stitch is supposed to be, it makes a great filler. Some of those shapes look like fleur-de-lis! That would make a great stitch too! You are doing really well.

I am in awe! That jester's hat looks way cool, but way hard to do. Yours looks pretty perfect to me. (I could send you some tops to practice on LOL).
ReplyDeleteCute little runner.
I think the Jester's Hats are more difficult than they appear, and you did a great job. I see a secondary design in your sample, like soaring birds, that I really like. When I tried this design, I got Smurf boots and mushrooms. More practice for me! ;-)
ReplyDeleteThis looks great! I had to practice for hours and it still took me forever to sew! ~Jeanne
