CHEDDAR CHEESE & CRACKERS QUILT TOP

I finished the doll quilt top!! I have never worked with 1" pieces before and didn't realize how much work would be involved. I'm not going to quilt it right away because I want to hand quilt and I'm busy hand quilting my tumbler table runner right now. Hopefully, I'll get to it soon! I haven't decided on the backing or binding yet, either, but they will be different fabrics from what I used in the top.
Then I will need to get busy piecing the second doll quilt! Yikes!! I cut and did a lot of the piecing while making the first one.
Now that I'm retired, I should have lots of time for quilting, but I find there are so many other things to do too - things that I didn't have time for before (like cleaning)! Tee Hee!

  1. I've heard retirement finds you busier then you were when working! How does that happen?! LOL I love your quilt and love all the extra pieces you have together too!! Thanks for posting your link.

Every time I see your tumbler quilt in the header I get light headed. Did you use templates and hand piece?

  2. Your quilt looks fantastic. Its fun seeing all the different ones. I too found it a lot more work than I anticipated but I think that's what makes it so special.

  3. Your little doll quilt is very cute, I like the tiny pieces even though they were more difficut to work with. The effort is well worth it. Can't wait to see them all done. Having several project to quilt at once can be fun, too. If you get tired of one, you can pick up another and work on it for a little while. Just enjoy your quilting!

  4. I know what you mean. After my "forced" retirement in December, I do things all day long but don't seem to have anything to show for it at the end of the day! What's with that??

  5. Great doll quilt. Now that you have mastered 1 inch squares, time to move on to 3/4 inch! And forget about cleaning--that's no fun!!

  8. There was a fair bit of piecing in this one but oh so worth it for the results. Yours is looking fabulous.

  9. As always Ruth your work is excellent. It's a terrific quilt and wrangling those 1 inch squares takes some doing. Happy Stitching, Ann :-)

  10. Absolutely love the colors and the pattern. I did the one inch squares in a quilt for my granddaughter and it makes for a really "neat" look. This will make a wonderful doll quilt. Can't wait to see it quilted! Mary

  11. Your cheddar quilt looks lovely. It's true that work and boring jobs like cleaning and mowing take up all our spare time. I'm quite good at putting them on the back burner too.

  13. Your doll quilt looks wonderful. I finally finished piecing mine this weekend. I will probably quilt it before showing it again though. Hoping some things will quilt out!
