A WIN AT THE DALLAS QUILT SHOW!!

Last year I joined the Quilters Guild of Dallas and since I'm a member now, I decided to enter a quilt in their quilt show.  I've been going to that show since 1998 when I saw an article about it in the newspaper.  At that point, I had taken one quilting class and made a small wall hanging.  Up until last year, I never thought I would enter a quilt in the show.  But then, I thought, why not?  So I entered my civil war quilt that I made with blocks from Barbara Brackman's Civil War block of the week on her blog.  I knew I wouldn't win anything, I just wanted to have it hang in the show.

Thursday night I went to the preview meeting and we got to look at all 400 quilts.  We walked all around and finally, I saw my quilt.  I couldn't believe it when I saw a white ribbon for third place on it! I still can't really believe that I won a ribbon for it as the Dallas show is very competitive.  But I am a very happy camper!!

The first time I went to the show in 1998, I was hoping I would find out more about how to make quilts.  On the way into the show, I saw a friend that I had known a long time, but didn't really see much anymore.  She invited me to join the Cedar Hill Quilt Guild, which I did, and the rest is history!  So the Dallas Quilt Show is where I really got inspired to get more involved in quilting - which I had wanted to do for years.

Tomorrow, I'll show some of my favorite quilts from the show.
